Tokyo Illumination (December 2010)You can see beautiful illumination everywhere in Tokyo, especially this time of the year, Christmas season. Travelers from Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and all over the world come to Tokyo for the illumination. Many Tokyo hotels will run out of rooms by Christmas, make sure to make reservation a head of times. Only 1% of Japanese people are christian, but even though, we like the atmosphere of Christmas. Odaiba is a newly developed area and there are many shopping centers for young people. So, they lighted up everywhere in and out of the shopping centers. Venus Fort is very popular shopping center with Italian atmosphere. It seems snow and aurora (northern lights) falling from the ceiling. There is a big lighted Christmas tree in front of Decks Tokyo Beach of Odaiba. From here, you can see the Rainbow Bridge. It is lighted up in rainbow color for Christmas season ! Roppongi Hills is a prestigious night spot all the year round. But in Christmas time, more and more people come to see the illumination. The Japanese style garden is lighted up. And you can find the Christmas market on the terrace. Street along the Roppongi Hills is also lighted up with LED lights. Though Tokyo Sky Tree (new Tokyo tower) is finished next year, Tokyo Tower will remain one of the symbol of Tokyo. If you look up from the foot of the tower, the view is breathtaking ! There is an event near the Tokyo Station area called 'Lightopia'. The parts of the Imperial Palace are also lighted up in this event. Streets and the entrances of the buildings are also decorated at Chrsitmas season. Ginza is lively all the year round, but this time of the year, you can enjoy the special decoration for Christmas. |
